Replacement LED Light Bulbs

Replacement LED Light Bulbs

The concept seems easy enough: Unscrew your incandescent or CFL light bulb and screw in an LED-based retrofit. The reality is a little more complex due to two key factors. First, the nature of LEDs is that they are highly directional. In the case of a PAR-type flood or spot light, LEDs can actually create a superior solution due to this natural directionality as less light is lost "in the fixture" as waste heat. In the case of your standard A19 "Edison" bulb, replacement LED light bulbs must be diffused to create the 360-degree effect someone is used to, and there are few if any good solutions available today.

The second main challenge with replacement LED light bulbs is in regards to heat. While equal to CFL solutions in their efficiency, LEDs dissipate heat from a very small point where the light is generated, rather than across the entire surface of the bulb. The result is that careful thermal engineering is required to properly dissipate that heat to ensure a reliable, long-lasting solution. The US Energy Star program has been completed and takes effect for solid state lighting as of September 30, 2008. The program points to several new standards, including "suitability for use" designations, but the Energy Star mark alone is not enough to be assured a product is suitable for your specific application.

Also available are fluorescent-replacement LED tubes. It is an LED light fixture designed to fit into applications currently served by traditional fluorescent tubes and fixtures. Retrofits can be as simple as removing the existing tube or replacing it with its LED-based equivalent. Unlike the traditional tubes, LEDs contain no lead or mercury, making them a more environmentally-friendly choice.

We provide information concerning these issues to those industries and organizations that will benefit. It's all about being able to offer our clients one-on-one personalized advice so that you can take advantage of the technology rather than allowing it to take advantage of you!

LED Light Fixture

The LED light possesses unique advantages of versatility, adaptability, durability, and life longevity. In terms of energy savings, the US Energy Star program has been completed and takes effect for solid state lighting as of September 30, 2008. The program points to several new standards, but the Energy Star mark alone is not enough to be assured a product is suitable for your specific application. When it comes to flexibility and styling, there will be "tricks" to identifying attractive fixture options that have not compromised on their performance or reliability. Contact us today for practical solutions, LED light fixture or Energy Star lights.
